I bought into this achievement-based lifestyle, and I blossomed into a college student with a restlessness that constantly had me looking at for the next task to conquer. When I was presented with the deaths of my friends, I applied this management of thinking to my own mortality.

I channeled my restlessness and ambition towards a kind of intellect-search, and also towards a greater appreciation for life. I reveled in unique art, music and books. I gained an appreciation for individuality, and I truly believed that madness and passion were the only prerequisites for genius.
